TIPA Laminate Pouches Earn Home Compostable Certification
TIPA Laminate Pouches Earn Home Compostable Certification
Global compostable packaging leader TIPA recently announced that its line of 608 laminate pouches earned a home compostable certification from the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ). The BNQ is Canada’s main standardization and certification body. Consequently, TIPA’s pouches are now recognized all over Canada as Home Compostable Bags. The certification allows the pouches to be stamped with the ‘Mark of Conformity’, which indicates their validation under the Compostable Bags Certification Program. Both the Composting Council of Canada and BNQ are in charge of supervising the program, and only they have the exclusive right to authorize the mark. TIPA’s 608 Laminate material is able to degrade into nutrient-rich soil when disposed of in- home or industrial composting bins. 608 Laminate offers an excellent biodegradable alternative to traditional flexible packaging. The material was introduced to the North American market last year as response to an increase in demand for compostable packaging. The material is a printable sealable two-ply laminate that can be processed on most standard plastic packaging machinery. 608 features a high oxygen and moisture barrier. Its applications include dry and frozen foods, edibles, produce, and more. The material is ideal for pouches or flow wraps and it can include compostable child-resistant zippers.
