Insit Improves Processes and Materials to Win Over Automotive OEM's
Insit Improves Processes and Materials to Win Over Automotive OEM's
Global Automotive supplier Insit expand their customer base by adding new materials and processes that make them a more attractive supplier for many Automotive OEM's. Insit likes to experiment to find different solutions that will drive growth, an action that has enabled them to obtain tangible results in the industry. Thanks to their willingness to experiment and improve the firm has already expanded its manufacturing network beyond Italy to India and Brazil. The firm's primary revenue driver is the blow molding of boots and bellows for the automotive industry. In addition, they also Injection mold other automotive components. A visit to a customer event hosted by materials supplier Celanese spurred numerous ideas and convinced the firm to adopt new processes and materials. At the event the Insit team learned about novel thermoplastic copolyester elastomer, Hytrel HTR8745LV, which allows for the injection molding of diaphragm boots in multi-cavity molds. Injection molding can provide benefits over blow molding in some instances and in this case making the switch to injection molding would provide efficiency improvements as well as a reduction in material use. A tier 1 automotive parts supplier has already asked Insit to begin commercial supply of their new injection molded boots and bellows, which will be used on new EV models being launched in Europe. New Eggshell Based Material to Boost Sustainability in the Molding Sector
New Eggshell Based Material to Boost Sustainability in the Molding Sector
New eggshell based GEX bio calcium resin by Spark Sourcing is a new environmentally friendly, waste saving solution compatible with various molding processes. Spark sourcing uses a multistep manufacturing process that the eggshells must withstand to be transformed into a fine calcium powder. The powder is then pelletized resulting in a material that can be used in conjunction with virgin plastic to achieve a plastic content reduction of 30-50%. GEX bio calcium is compatible with a range of plastics including PET, HDPE, PP, PE, PS, PCV, PLA, ABS, EVA, and Rubber. Furthermore, the material is also compatible with various processes including blow molding, injection molding, film blowing, vacuum forming, thermoforming, and calendaring. Thanks to its small particle size and softness the integration of Gex into existing processes should be seamless and economical, without dangers or risks of damaging machinery or equipment. GEX is also eco-certified by SGS for carbon, waste, and plastic reduction. Spark Sourcing reported that GEX is able to reduce carbon emissions by 70%. The material is also recyclable making it a feasible solution for firms looking to achieve sustainability goals or meet upcoming plastic reduction policies. Learn more here.
